Meet Miranda

My love for crochet started when I was little. I used to love watching my grandma crochet the blankets and simple dolls she created. She always tried to teach me, but nothing ever stuck in my brain past the simple chains. I ended up with more “bookmarks” than I care to admit. I retaught myself how to crochet when I found out that I was pregnant. I wanted to make my tiny baby a blanket, which I did. I very quickly realized that blankets were not the things that I wanted to create. I saw a dragon pattern from Crafty Intentions and knew that that was what I wanted to do. I taught myself the stitches and the way to stuff the pieces without making them oddly shaped and the rest is history.

I have since acquired most of the patterns from the lovely Megan Lapp of Crafty Intentions and expanded my creative base for what I do. The reason I started the business was kind of an accident; I was a stay at home when my daughter started kindergarten and I was taking commissions to help cover expenses. I was talking to my mom one day and we discovered that there was a farmer’s market in Crawfordsville, IN that could help make some money. We made a variety of things to take with us and off we went to the market. Since then, we have been to many festivals and renfaires. Including but not limited to, the Southern Indiana Ren Faire and the Central Indiana Fairy Festivals.

I love to create things for people and see the look on their faces when I pull out their imagination into a yarn buddy. Being a creative individual, I love to be able to use someone else’s idea and expand on it and make it come to life. My favorite piece I have ever done was the 5’ long Sisu inspired Eastern Dragon. Dragons are by far my favorite things to make. So many options and details to choose from as well as so many unique styles. My daughter is now 9 and she often helps me choose color schemes and details for my creations.

I have a full time job in child welfare, but when my daughter asked me if I wanted to do this with her, I said “HECK YES”!!! We’ve been in business for 4 years and feel like we’re just getting started. I’ve been crocheting more than 40 years and I also dabble in sewing, painting and anything crafty, really. There is beauty in everything, you just have to look really hard sometimes!!!
